I towed my car to A-1 Japanese Autocare earlier this week for repair. It was not starting. They called me an hour later and stated that they would have to replace a starter that would take 4 hrs and gave me an estimate of $475. I was hoping cause was something minor like a loose terminal cable.
I called another shop which was right around the corner to find out how much they would charge for similar kind of maintenance. They said $300 and 1 & 1/2 hrs to fix. I called A-1 again to renegotiate but the owner was firm with his price and fix time.
I didn't feel like spending that kind of money so took my car to another shop and they found the issue was in-fact a loose terminal cable and fixed it for $20. They said starter was okay.
I felt really bad that A-1 misdiagnose my car and tried to rip me off. I will never ever go to this place again. The older man who was behind the counter, which I guess was the owner of this place, was also very rude to me.
So I would give 0 star to this place and recommend everyone going there to be cautious.
