Barn Light USA

I had a terrible experience buying from Barn Light Electric. Their inflexibility on their shipping options is a huge turn off and I won't be buying from them again unless this changes. UPS impose ridiculous "brokerage" fees when a package enters into Canada, often exceeding 50% of the value of the package itself! USPS doesn't charge brokerage fees, so in my opinion these fees are made up and completely bogus. I live in a small town with no UPS facility so every night undelivered packages leave town, giving you no opportunity to pick up at your own convenience. I had this package delivered to my parents house, as my 87 year-old grandmother lives with them and is home all the time. Two days in a row UPS rang the doorbell and they were back in their truck and gone before she could answer the door and one of these days she was on her feet in the kitchen, only 10-15 steps from the door and still, they didn't stick around long enough. I don't know what they expect. On this day the note left behind was very rude and read "Tomorrow is your LAST CHANCE!!". In contrast, USPS (which becomes Canada Post) at the border would try to deliver twice at which point they would provide pickup instructions and hold your package for 7 days, giving a normal person who works during the day an opportunity to pick up a package that they PAID FOR, and PAID TO HAVE SHIPPED without being mistreated by an ignorant UPS truck driver! So on the third day my girlfriend, (who the light was for), went to my parents house and waited around the entire day (right by the door!) for the package to arrive. When the driver finally showed hours and hours later she tried to sign for the package and pay him and he informed her he didn't accept cash! He left, again and she called me, absolutely blown away by this and not sure of what to do. I had to leave work, get in my car and drive around looking for this stupid little brown truck. I found the truck 5 minutes to 5 as he was getting coffee and getting ready to hit the highway. Barn Light Electric, I am so disappointed that you have such great products but continue to use a terrible company to handle your shipping. I would love to keep doing business with you but until things change I refuse to deal with you at all. I would really appreciate an email from you and I'd love to talk with you about ways to improve the buying experience for Canadians which for the time being is so horrible I won't go through it again.
