We are a family that LOVES ice cream, so when I came across Mr. COOL and his rolled Ice Cream I knew I had to take a trip down I-Drive to check it out.
The first thing you will notice are the post its covering the walls. As you look closer they are greetings and mini celebrations of the ice cream we were about to enjoy. We were greeted warmly and offered the menus to w browse. The concept is simple, you can either chose a creation or chose your base ice cream flavor and a mix in. My mom decided to choose chocolate ice cream and Graham cracker mix in, while I opted for the Monkey business; which included the original flavor ice cream, banana and nutella.
They start off by making a cute design on the frozen surface. This varies, I saw them make a Mickey Mouse, a smiley face and for me a heart. Then 1/2 of a banana was put in the center and he poured the ice cream mix in the center to fill the heart. After a second or 10, he began mixing and chopping and working the mixture around to get everything incorporated. Once it gets pretty smooth he began to spread it across the frozen plate to create a frozen, thinly spread rectangle. Once it gets to the right consistency he switched spatulas and began to roll the ice cream up. So "cool".
After the rolling is complete everyone gets to choose 3 toppings. I didn't know what to choose so I left it in his capable hands. He grabbed an Oreo and split it apart and added each side to the ice cream. Then he grabbed the whipped cream and sprayed a mound on top. Finally he added 2 brown m&m's, a red gummy bear and topped it off with some chocolate syrup. An adorable Mickey Mouse.
My first taste was incredible. The ice cream is so creamy and flavorful. I can't wait to go back and try other options. The husband and wife duo that run Mr. COOL are so adorable and friendly. Be patient, these delightful flavors take time and each one is a unique work of art.
Happy dessert!
