One of the only two hardcore dive bars on the island. Coming from the north, it was kind of a culture shock walking into this bar. I saw a few folks wearing rebel flag Tshirts, everyone was smoking cigarettes, and just socializing and seemed to be enjoying themselves. This is a locals bar, but were friendly enough towards an outside tourist like me. They had cheap beers and a digital jukebox playing mostly southern rock and country music. Since I love the music, I really enjoyed myself here. They also had sports on the TVs above the bar, so sure, you can also call this a sports bar.
The locals here mostly stuck to themselves and didn't talk to me, but the bartender told me some crazy story about an alligator in their bathroom one time, but I wasn't sure if she was busting my chops since I was a tourist or actually telling the truth. I will definitely visit Shamrock again next time I am in Ft Myers.
